Backups for Home Users
Is your computer backed up? If the answer is no, all of your data is at serious risk.
Backups are a necessary thing in today's world, where so much of our information and data is crucial to our everyday or irreplaceable memories that have been captured digitally. If you suddenly lost everything on your computer, how hard would it be to replace every program, file, picture, etc?
We all know that we can ruin a device by dropping it, spilling water on it, letting the dog eat it, and other scenarios where we can put the blame on ourselves. But a lot of people don't think about the things that we have no control over, such as a failed Windows update or someone stealing the device. Even an otherwise benign power surge could cause a complete system failure and loss of all of your data. On top of all of this, the components that are in charge of storing all of this data are susceptible to wearing out over time, and while some can last over a decade with no issues, we have seen some only last 2-3 years.
Recovering data can be very expensive. We have tools that can aid in this process, and if we can recover that might only cost a few hundred bucks. If we are not able to recover the data, our partners at DriveSavers can sometimes assist, but their services cost several thousand.
Our backup solutions are based on the idea of 3-2-1 backups, regularly recommended in the information technology world as the best practice for keeping your data safe. 3 copies of your data, across 2 locations, with 1 of those being a different form of media. The easiest way to accomplish this is to use a cloud-based backup solution, which keeps your information safe outside of your house. Even in the event of a catastrophe, such as a house fire, your information is recoverable and safe.
We do have several different partners in this space, and we would love to talk with you more to figure out which solution is best for you!
